Skift Metabolic
Shift Your Trajectory — Medical Metabolic Optimization for Lasting Results
Skift Metabolic
At Skift Metabolic, the goal is simple: help patients improve their metabolic health before chronic disease takes hold. Throughout my career in medicine, I have seen firsthand how lifestyle choices can cause many conditions — including obesity, back pain, and diabetes, that can eventually necessitate extreme interventions such as heart and spine surgery. Unfortunately, many patients are told to “improve their lifestyle” without ever being given the time or guidance to understand what that truly means. Skift Metabolic was created to provide a more proactive and personalized approach to metabolic health.
My path in medicine began at 18 when I became a Hospital Corpsman in the United States Navy, caring for active duty service members, veterans, and their families. After eight years of service, I went on to become a Physician Associate (PA-C). Since then, I have worked in cardiac surgery and orthopedic spine surgery, caring for patients facing the real consequences of chronic disease. These experiences reinforced my belief that many health problems can be improved — and often prevented — with better metabolic health.
At Skift Metabolic, I focus on providing thoughtful, individualized care where patients feel heard, supported, and actively involved in their health journey. Weight loss medications and modern therapies are used as tools when appropriate, but the foundation of care is education, lifestyle guidance, and sustainable change. As a husband, father, and CrossFit coach, I believe strongly in living the principles I share with my patients. My goal is to help individuals regain confidence in their health and build the foundation for a longer, more energetic life.
What Is Metabolic Health?
Metabolic health describes how effectively your body converts food into energy and maintains balance in systems like blood sugar, body weight, inflammation, and hormone regulation. When metabolism is functioning well, people tend to experience steady energy, healthier body composition, better physical performance, and lower risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and obesity. Physicians focused on longevity and preventive medicine, including Dr. Mark Hyman and Dr. Peter Attia, often emphasize that metabolic health is one of the most important foundations for long-term wellness and disease prevention. By improving metabolic health through nutrition, exercise, sleep, and targeted medical care, individuals can not only feel better day-to-day but also build a stronger foundation for a longer, healthier life.
